Default too much oil in transmission?

I have just completed the 5000mile oil change on my 2007 Ultra classic. This is the first time I have done my own oil change and this is my second Harley. When I changed the oil in the transmission, I let it drain completely and then added 32 ounces as per the 2007 service manual. When I checked the level on the dip stick it was over the top line by about 1/4". I rode the bike for about 10 miles, checked it again and it is still the same. Is this O.K.? Should I drain some out and bring it half way between the low and full marks? I did the checking and filling while the bike was on the jiffy stand. Thanks, Halfbreed

My 05 takes 24 0zs. in the tranny and 1 qt. in the primary. I would drain a little out till the level is correct.

Did you screw the dipstick back in the hole? Should just set dipstick in hole Do Not thread it in. ... Should be on Jiffy Stand. 32 ounces

I did the exact same thing when I did my tranny fluid the first time. My problem was trying to approximate the right amount of ounces out of the bottle and put too much in. I just drained out the excess and was good to go. After that I bought a measuring cup and use this to make sure I put the right amount in.

If you put too much in,guess what,as soon as you start it,it will foam and spit out the trans overflow tube.

That little bit probably wont hurt, but its easy enough to drain a little out and get the level right.

Just don't start your bike. You start it and you'll blow all your seals.

This is the correct way to check the fluid in your Transmission.
Has that been changed from the TC88 to the TC96 ? Because the correct way to check the oil on my '06 is with the bike straight up and down, NOT on the jiffy stand, as per page 176 in the '06 owner's manual.
