Default Cup Holder Placement

Bought a Barefoot ******* cup holder today http://www.barefootwillies.com/index...=index&cPath=2
and mounted it on my apes. I ran a search to see if people put these things down on the crash bar and I didn't really get much, so here's my question; If it's down on the bar, will the engine heat mess up the holder? I know some Cruzer Caddies go down there, but they're metal- so that might make a difference. Does anyone run a plastic one like the Barefoot ******* this way or should I just keep it on the bar? My handlebars are 1.25' so it should fit either way.

I understand this is probably a preference thing, but I don't want to mount it on the crash bar and get mushy plastic at the end of a ride- so I'd rather learn from everyone else's mistakes.

I'm not going to tell you where to put it and have never had the pleasure to afford engine guard on my bike yet, but it seems to me that the engine guard is far enough out from the engine and way out in the breeze that the heat from the engine should not effect it at all. Do you notice if your engine guards get hot or not while riding?

If that'll hold a 36 oz. Big Gulp, it's probably illegal in New York City - just ask Mayor Bloomberg...

..... i'd go to the crash bar, a holder like that half way up the monkey bar just looks wrong.
........ not to mention that a tall brown neck out in the open is like waving @ uncle LEO

It was holding it for me as I was doing other maintenance on the bike. I kind of agree with you- I'll relocate it to the crash bar and see what happens. It was only 20 bucks, anyways.

That's HD's cup holder, and it doesn't fit my year bike. That one is '09 and up touring, '00 and up Softail. It's also a huge pain because you have to relocate the horn- but that holder was my first choice.
