Rain: how wimpy are Harleys?
I'm always refraining from riding when it rains as I'm worried the bike could start rusting.
On the other had my cage is out in the elements 24/7 365 a year, driving with all sorts of weather, especially rain. Not a thought that could damage the car, and it doesn't.
But what about the bike then?
I mean they are both made of painted steel, why should the bike rust prematurely? what about the chrome?
what do you guys think? is it an unjustified worry?

I have ridden in the rain and have not had a problem with rust. If I ride the coast and don't wipe the bike down on a foggy / wet day, I have had some rust problems. Not just Harley parts, but also after market chrome as well.

bikes are made to be ridden outside. rain is part of that. sure, its' going to look like chit afterwards, but a good cleaning gives you a good excuse to check things out.
you can even leave them parked outside overnight

5 years parked outside year round and the only thing that it has done is wrinkle the speedo back screen.
