Seriously, mine is tied by a piece of leather on the lowest portion ofthe frame. The closer to the ground the better, as LEGEND has it.

Frame rail with a electrical ty wrap, should be there for years without a problem

and it will still work just as good. I hope your friends got a good deal on the bell, I heard you can get them cheap from bikes that are wrecked.
