IMO He should be able to find a much newer Sportster for about the same money.

That's a VERY nicely kept Ironhead and not a bad price, either. I would buy it, if I were in the market, but that's just me. Evo Sportsters are much more reliable than Ironheads, so your buddy will either need good mechanical skills or a good indy he can rely on to keep it running strong and reliably. I LOVE Ironheads, but they are known to be temperamental...

Depending on how much he rides and what his mechanical skill set is, an Evo powered Sporty may be a better choice. Freeway riding could be tiresome on that one being a 4 speed, however back roads wouldnt be a problem. Looks like it has electric start too, so that reduces/eliminates the risk of a hyperextended knee.

An Evo might be more reliable (this is debatable) but they are a dime a dozen. A late model Iron Head has some charm and is fairly unique these days. Only moderate wrench skills should be necessary.

http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/3574914021.html Some people prefer the Ironhead over the Evo, just as some prefer Shovelheads over Evos. |
