Default 2 up riding shock adjustment

Hey guys. I just got some rear pegs and a pillion for my 2011 Nightster. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the shocks to better suit 2 up riding? Just looking at it I think I see what I have to do but it never hurts to ask. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys. Have fun, ride safe.

If you have the 1-5 options, go to 5 for 2 up.

Just gotta turn them to whatever setting you want. Using the caliper tool that's made for it is easiest but some folks wrap a towel around the shock and do it channel locks or visegrips. The heavier you and/or your girls are the higher setting you'll need. Also remember that at the higher settings you'll sit higher when riding solo.

The owners manual that comes with every new bike explains clearly how to adjust your shocks.

I think they come from the factory set on the lowest setting for a smoother ride.

On my Fat Bob I used a small strap type oil filter wrench that had an adjustable rubber strap - cost like $5 at autozone.

looking is not going to tell you much. When I was 2up with wife I set mine to 4 turns out. I first set them all the way in then adjusted out. Much easier if you have a lift.

Get the proper tool, and save yourself some grief - it's called a spanner wrench, about $10.

Second setting on my Progressive 412 HD, makes the 02 Superglide glide just super. Also changed out the front fork springs.
