Default Doubble wrapping Exhaust

I recently wrapped my exhaust (a couple of months back) im seriously getting a lot of heat off of the exhaust (ruining jeans) In traffic it sometimes boarder line unbearable...so I was considering double wrapping the exhaust to try and cut down the radiant heat.. now I know a lot of people are going to say "this will shorten your exhaust life and so on" I know all that basicly I like the wrapped look, and its on V&H short shots on my 2007 FXDB and the pipes are a couple of years old so I don't really care about the pipes longevity...I would just like to hear from some folks with experience and/or knowledge on double wrapping..

I heard that when you double wrap it one can create friction on the other and cause them both to break and I don't want kids so I don't double wrap

If it is that hot, you got bigger problems than burning your jeans......I would say you are running way too lean......pull your plugs and look at them...if they are white....well thats a good indicator...

I have the same pips on my Train and they dont get that hot at all...ever.....

+1 on what was said plus I'm not sure double wrapping will do a whole lot of good. A wrap is just another form of heat shield. If you have pipes do you have fuel management? Eventually two layers of wrap will still heat to the pipe temp. I wonder if double wrapping would even make your pipes hotter by trapping heat?

+1 plus if you're sufficiently worried that you're thinking of double-wrapping, should you really be riding that to begin with?

I thought wrapping was like heat shields and supposed to keep them "cool".

The theory behind wrapping pipes is to gain performance. It is not for the rider.

It keeps the exhaust in the pipes hotter longer. Hot air is thinner and moves faster through the exhaust thus less back pressure.

However it is slight and if it really does work then it would also cause the engine to run a little leaner and would need to be adjusted to the correct AFR.
