Default Rain gear

Here in Charlotte, it has rained nearly every single day for the past month or so. I'm not talking about a light drizzle but a heavy down pour.

I can't even mow my back yard because it's completely soaked.

Anyway, I would like to get a rain suit but I'm wondering if a top and bottom is over kill. I'm thinking, you'll only use it if you get caught in the rain. So would i need to invest in the pants.

What do you guys use: top and bottom or just top. Online at Jafrum.com, there's the Frogg Toggs Tekk Toad Jacket that I really like.

Thanks!

Rain? What is this thing you call rain? The radar showed rain but it hasn't rained in this town in about 6 weeks.

IF I was going to get rain gear, I'd get the whole set. Why get a top without the bottom and the other way around.

Cabelas pack light gore tex jacket and pants, light and hasn't leaked in five years, and ride in the rain quite a lot. Other option is the HD high vis suit, have not personally used them but lots of riders give high recommendations.

Hell yes, I've worn just the pants when the road is wet and no longer raining, and, if it's a brief shower to ride through as my T shirt dries faster than wet jeans and boots. It's too hot to wear the rain jacket here during the summer unless it's cloudy with non stop rain.

Only gear I have is HD......great quality and the right leg has a heat shield of sorts. It has kept me dry more than once. I have had cheaper stuff that didn't keep my dry and didn't last by long.

I've got a full HD suit. Heat shield on the leg and thus far, has not leaked (had it 3 years).

Waterproof boots to keep the toes dry.

A lot of people don't like them but I've used the same set of Frogg Toggs since 2003. They breathe, pack up real small and with some heat resistant tape on the right leg have not been burnt by the pipes.

I have aa Frogg Togg suit that I added their heat shield to the right leg. It's light and packs small. It's kept me dry when i've used it a couple of times. I'm not sure about it's durability but I picked it up at Walmart for about $25. I also have boot gaiters.
