Voltage regulator, what brand?
Original regulator 25,000 miles crapped out, charging 18.9V no kiddn' LOL
Should I get HD brand or Accel? Any other recommendation? OEM 74631-06 Thanks Alex

I ride old iron but I switched from HD to Cycle Electric (American made) and have had no problems

I just realize I blew the headlight running hi voltage, now I worry about my ECM. Did I damage it by running 18v? It runs and everything, hopefully I didn't fry it.

On my old FXR, the stock HD volt reg gave out at only 18K miles. I replaced it with an Accel Solid State unit - wasn't cheap (is anything on a Harley cheap anymore?), but the Accel unit ran forever and a day.

Cycle electric. They don't use a shunt regulator. From their website:
"A more efficient approach to rectifying regulators.
To control voltage on Harley-Davidson alternators other rectifier regulators dump current to ground. This causes maximum stator current and temperature at all times. Cycle Electric rectifying regulators block current to control voltage. This reduces stator current resulting in lower temperature and less drag on the motor which means more efficient operation. The largest and most noticeable benefit is a smoother charge to the battery. This means less battery maintenance and longer battery life."

Switched to CompuFire's 40A three-phase system on my 97 WG.
