Gas tank refurb plan

After pulling my pump and lines on my 01 Fatboy EFI, due to suspected pin holes in the lines, I noticed the tank had been lined at some point and the lining was bubbled pretty bad. I have researched and came down to two options, (1) replace the tank, which is at least a $200 venture, plus repainting either the tank or the rest of my tins if I find a tank I like as is, or (2) strip and reline the current tank. I'm going to try and strip this tank. I figure MEK, dry wall screws and BB's (~$75 total), using Caswell liner to reline. If it doesn't work, I can still replace the tank. Any suggestions or other thoughts?

Be careful with MEK if you not used it before.

Your liner is failing,so you want to use that crap again?

If there are no leaks, I'll pass on relining.

Restored a ton, replace the tank and be done with it.

Had the same thing on my 99 Ultra. blew out al the loose stuff I could and put it back on with clean filter. Run it till it stops.

POR 15 gas tank kit, has everything you need. Mine is still fine after 3 years. Good stuff.
The factory liner peeled off in my '03.

yeah, if you are going to reline it use POR 15. That is about as good as that stuff gets.

I used the por 15 on my fxd because the liner had bubbled and flaked off. There was visable rust in the tank so I got the kit and went to town. Probably the worst experience I've had so far. The lining itself when it was all said and done looked great, but getting the old liner out was a HUGE headache for me. I only had the bike for a few months after so I'm not too sure how it's held up, but if your planning on relining, I would go with that kit.
