Default primary and trans. Oil change freq.

How long have you let the oil go in the primary and transmission before changing?

Harley says to change primary fluid every 10,000 miles and trans fluid every 20,000 miles. I got my dyna back in March and plan on doing both every 10,000 miles.

I put a good synthetic in the tranny, and I'm not gonna change it, ever. I'll do the primary every 10k miles with formula +.

I stick to the factory intervals. After speaking with the guys who are responsible for designating those intervals, I agree with their reason.

If anything, you can go longer because of the safety factors built in.

With a good Syn gear oil I'd keep it in the transmission for 20-40 thousand miles! The primary I change out every 5K cheap insurance!

What reasoning would that be?

I use synthetic too but do less than 10,000 miles a year on the bike. That would work out to me changing the primary and trans about every 1.5 years or so. If I waited 20,000-40,000 miles to change the trans fluid, it would take me 3 or 4 to 7 or 8 years and I don't believe in leaving any oil in that long, no matter how good the fluid is.

I do all three holes at the same time.
On my bike.

Every time I change oil, I change transmission and primary too.
It is already on the jack and the tools are out and my hands are already greasy.

I run my bike for hours on end at higher speeds. A little extra care doesn't hurt.

I take mine to the shop every 5k and they do the magic. That's what the manual shows...every 5k.
