CA emissions again
Quick question, except for the evaporative canister and the $200 extra cost, are there any differences between a California emissions bike and a non- California bike? Specifically, are there any EFI mapping or cam differences? Referring to brand new 2014 model.

No. The CA exhaust emission standards are the same as the EPA 2010 Tier II standard. From the CARB website:
The California exhaust emission test procedures are adopted from the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency's (U.S. EPA's) exhaust test procedures in title 40, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 86, subparts E and F.

There are no 50 state Harleys. The California compliant bikes still have a different VIN designation and there are no Evap controls on the non California bikes.

Unless that canister is placed inside the pipes or muffler, I could not see a odd looking part dangling from the frame or elsewhere.
If CA owners can post up a photo of this canister, it might help others to ID it when they see it.

Odd......A Las Vegas Nevada dealer told me 2 weeks ago that bikes sold in NV do not have the canister.

The canister is on the front of the frame by the brake pedal. I was in Reno this past weekend and looked at a 2014 there. It had a Federal VIN, a Federal emissions sticker and no canister.
