Our little farm lathe cant realy handle the material so gotta take them to the big machine shop to do the ring cuts.

Those look pretty cool are you gonna coat them or let them tarnish naturally?

I have a 12" buffer so if it tarnishes ill buff it down. If I really like em ill have em clear powder coated. Still a long ways off from finished.

Don't park it near anyone that might want them for scrap...

Wow, that lathe must be vintage 19th century. Cool project, look forward to seeing the pictures as it progresses.

+1 on the scrap thieves. They'll grab anything anymore.

I know nothing about working with metal. Is the tensile strength of copper enough to prevent them being bent out of shape when you put pressure on them during riding?

I have no idea about the strength of the copper. My worrie is that the hole for the pin will oblong or the peg will snap off if t grinds in a corner.

Now that I've told you I know nothing about metal of course I have a suggestion...

What if you inserted some type of 'sleeve' into the hole you bore where the pin is located?
