Default RE: Spark Plug Cleaning

I check my plugs on my carb bike every 600 miles or so to see how there burning. I wire brush them and put them back in replacing them every 2 oil changes. So they get checked about 6 times and then replaced.

Never had a problem with them.

The EFI bike I check them each oil change and replace them after 2 oil changes. Haven't needed to clean them yet.

my 2 cents

Dude......you have WAY too much time on your hands! Your going to wear out the threads in the head. Just kidding, really just change the plugs at the 10k service. With no lead on the fuel and electronic ignition there is nothing to do to the spark plugs until you reach 10,000 miles. Spend the time riding.

Well, I'm not kidding... Rethreading heads due to stripped plug threads is a nightmare. I'd go by the recommended interval and no more, unless there's a problem... my .02

I hadn't thought about these in a thousand years, but remember working at gas stations as a teen with these machines. Thanks for the memory.

in the old days sand-blasters were sold specifically for plug cleaning. Just make sure you get all the sand blown out of the plug before re-insatlling.
