They handle really well around town , on twisty back roads, and add bags to do some light touring.
I wouldn't rule it out with out a test ride. I'm glad I didn't

road king all the way. reason is the road king is the "do everything" bike that harley makes. it makes a good tourer, good town bike, good stripped down, dressed up, blank slate.
the wide glide is a great bike, but if your planning on long rides there are better options.
the street glide is a great bike, but around town (for me) the fairing is a visual hinderance. plus it's heavy and just doesn't suit me for in town rides.
the road king will do it all. now i ride a heritage and love it. to me it handles better than a king, rides just as good (i don't ride 2 up tho), and is great for what i need (under 300 mile trips). my brothers road king tho is a pleasure on the highway and if i did more touring i would have one myself.

My first Harley was a Wide Glide. I put some leather saddle bags and a detachable windshield on it and was very happy with it for every day riding. After I started taking longer and longer trips, I moved into the touring bikes. It really depends on what type of riding you plan on doing and what feels comfortable to you.

I think the Road King has a more suspension travel on the rear than the SG has.
That low look came with a price.
