Engine Vin # need help

I can't find a good site to give me any info on my engine vin# it is a 10 digit # that starts with letters and ends with numbers. there is plenty of sits to search the frame vin# and some sites that have a little info on engine vins but not in the later years of HD's.

do any of you know of a good place to search the ENGINE NUMBER?

thanks.

In this Google search, none of the sites there provide the information you need?

it is a custom frame so it isn't the same as the engine.

Incorrect.

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a 17 digit combination of numbers and letters that is stamped on the frame...usually on the neck. On a late model Harley, that VIN will tell you if the bike was manufactured for domestic use or export, the model of the bike, the engine type, where it was made, and its serial number.

Example: 1HD1EML19PY123456

1HD1 means domestic Harley Davidson heavyweight (>900cc), EM=model FXRS Convertible, L=1340" EVO engine, 1=introduction date (regular intro), 9=check digit, P=model year (1993), Y=assembly plant (York, PA), 123456= sequential serial number.

An Engine Number is a 10 digit combination of numbers and letters that will tell you the year, model, and what type engine it is, along with the 6 digit serial number.

Example: Engine number EMLP123456 is a 1993 FXRS Con, with a 1340" Evo engine, and serial number 123456.

The VIN and engine number shown here are matching numbers for a Harley. It is what you should see on a 1993 FXRS Con if the engine hasn't been changed.

OP,

Post up your engine number, and we'll see if we can identify it.
