The cats are in the inlet side of the mufflers. Change to aftermarket mufflers and the cats are gone. FYI, current generation screaming eagle street performance mufflers have cats in them.

removing the baffle allow me to remove the cat?I mean the cat is inside the baffle or is before the baffle, so even removing the baffle I still should drill it out?

The cat is "molded" into the muffler in front of the baffle. You can grind out about 90%. I would buy a pair of slip ons with a 2" baffle and be done with it. They install in less then 1 hr and you have your originals if you need them or trade your bike in you can install stock cans back on and sell the slip ons. The after market slip ons are avail new and used. Softails are the same from 2007 to present as far as I know.

ok thanks for the informations, I have a couple of problems here in Italy.
Police check your mufflers and if not original they fine you 350 euros and you must have your bike inspected beforeyou can drive it again on the road. second I love my slim original shape so I would not like to change it. That is why I bought another pair of original mufflers(75$) to modify those and keep my originals intact.

This may be your solution: Go to a forum sponsor called American Custom Exhaust. You can buy stock cans that have been modified or send them yours to be modified. I assume it would be cheaper to buy them and have one way shipping costs. These mufflers would be tagged as stock

The cat was attached to the baffle when I pulled them out of my new breakout. Might be able to remove the baffle and cut off the cat part or drill it out then reinstall so it looks stock but might sound better.

I made a post awhile back about removing the cats from my Breakout. By the replies above, it looks like your mufflers are like mine. Here's what I did.

thanks a lot, I will do the same thing with my cats, but instead of making a hole in the separation between the baffle chambers, losing counter pressure, I will make bigger holes on the sides .
