Forwards install w/o removing primary…some quick questions...
Hi,
This is for a 2014 street bob. I looked at the video of installing forwards without removing the primary. I just a few questions…PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong. This is my first time installing forwards….:icon_lol: I have nearly everything installed. I just need to take a saw, behind the primary, to the shaft that has the stock shifter. Once finished, the stock shifter will fall down (I get that much). At this point, if I’m looking at the primary, do I simply pull on the shifter lever and the shaft and shifter lever will come out? The front of the bike requires a primary hole plug. What about the opening behind the primary that I sawed, is there a plug behind the primary?:icon_question: :icon_hide: I purchased the kit used, so I know I'm missing few pieces. THANKS |
why cut the shift shaft? i never did that when i put my forwards on, i had a rudder coated piece the attached to the the disconected linkage on the back side of the primary and that holds that shaft so it doesnt move and then i have a cover/cap on the spline end of that shaft.... i never took the shift shaft out, it still goes thru my primary

Yes just pull it out after it's cut. No plug for the backside, it's just a thru hole which no one can see on the other side. That's the only pain in the ass part cutting that shaft.
