Helmet Question.

I am looking for a new half helmet but everyone I try just doesn't fit. I wear a XXL to start with so it has to be a big ass bucket. But the problem I have is all of the ones I have found are oval inside and my head is more round. I have a DOT german style and it is an 11 gallon helmet on a 10 gallon head but it is more round inside. Anyone got any suggestions on a helmet which might be more round.

Thanks

Deleted, sorry, saw you were looking for a half helmet.

I have the same problem, give the GMAX brand a try it is the closest I have found to being round inside for me, good luck to you!

I have a big melon also. I wore a 2xl and it was a little tight. Went to Helmets r Us and found a 3xl half helmet. Fits great. They also give a description of the dimensions of the helmets, might be helpful in your situation. The helmet is DOT approved and the price is reasonable. I believe I paid around $66-69 with shipping.

Just theorizing here, but have you ever tried a smaller helmet?

I know it makes no sense, but the helmet fitting expert at Arai who fits all the racing circuit guys says most street riders wear a lid that is one to two sizes too big. And that leads to an ill fit, headaches, etc, just as much as too small.

Sounds crazy, but I actually went down from a large to a medium with this in mind. Away went the lift at freeway speeds, headaches, crappy ambient noise, etc. Took a week or two of snugness, but the liner and shell conformed to my head nicely and fit like a glove now.

I also changed from the halfs I had been wearing for some 15 years to a 3/4 and FF sometimes. Believe it or not, of all of them, I find the half the least comfortable by far.

3/4 feels most natural to me. Then full. Then half, which I would never go back to.

Just my 2 cents.

Maybe the Bell Drifter? http://www.bellhelmets.com/powerspor...et/drifter-dlx

I've been shopping around for a half, and am mostly struggling to find one that fits well (I don't have a giant melon though - wear a medium in this helmet, as well as my current GMax modular). This Bell has a ratcheting size adjustment, similar to a hardhat, to fine tune the fit. I'm pretty much convinced I'm gonna get this, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

HD also has this one, I think it's the Lone Star model in their catalog (goes for like 115 or 120 with the HD logo onboard). The local HD dealership was the only place I could find one to try on.

Good luck.
