Default Red Locktite

I used red locktite on the allen bolts to secure my air cleaner to the throttle body. I just read the directions which indicates only BLUE should be used. Do you think the red would harden to much and make it impossible to remove the allen bolts? It's only been a few days, should I take the bolts out now and rethread them with blue or just leave them be?

Should be okay, might be a bit difficult to get them out at first but once you break the 'seal' it should come out. I personally don't use anything, just make sure they are tight and forget it.

Good luck getting them out with red. Better take it to a pro who has the correct tools; prolly gonna need an air tool.

I don't even use blue for that--just snug 'em up good. In fact, I don't use locktite for anything, & have never had a problem.

If you used red - try to get the bolts out as soon as you can if possible. At work we use red and when it is fully hardened almost impossible to remove bolts.

Its in there. Its past an 24 hours. Sounds like a problem the next time you want to remove that bolt.

I'd move on and worry about it later.

Red loctite can be easily broken. Use a propane torch. 400 degrees breaks the lock...

I would try to remove them now, red loctite on bolts requires heat to remove them.

Heat the bolts with a small soldering torch and they should come out OK. I had someone do that to my FLSTC before I bought it on rear fender and had to drill to avoid burning my paint with a torch, not fun....

That's good advice. I didn't think red got so hard. I'll leave it alone because it may be years before I have the desire, or need, to take it off. At least I know I can.

Thanks!
