Will add shift rod and kickstand spring...actually have needed both on the road!

Have you seen these tool bags that sit in the spaces at the bottom of your hardbags? http://www.storagepouches.com/

I have a set. They're pricey but worth it. They'll hold all of your tools. I carry about what you do. And they'll save you the space you're looking for.

I bought their bagliners as well, and the quality is excellent.

Man some of you guys carry a lot of stuff. If I was going on a long trip, especially through a lot of uninhabited areas, I might carry that much. But I doubt it. 7lbs of tools is a lot in my book on a bike.
Pretty much I've got a small torx set, allen wrenches, a few combo wrenches, screwdrivers, zip ties and Loctite. All of it fits in a small downtube tool bag.
It's come in handy a few times but so far I've never needed something I didn't have, knock on wood.

As long as you're carrying so many tools, may as well bring your shop manual, and torque wrench too.And some hand cleaner and some grease rags. Get a trailer so you can always have your mc jack with you,and some tie-down straps.
Seriously,you didn't mention a 10mm wrench,for the battery posts,the cause of 50% of motorcycle problems.

I lightened mine alot, but added a multitool and zip ties. And carry a cell phone.

But then, there's no room to carry anything on a Sportster.

Throw in LED lightstick, a tire plug kit and mini compressor and that's about what I carry. Plug kit came in handy in Nova Scotia 2 years back in remote area w no cell service. Was able the remove embedded screw, rasp out the puncture, plug and inflate the tire, and ride safely to the dealer.

2 weeks ago I was in Tennessee riding SR 85 and my buddy got a flat. Couldn't repair because he has a tube/tire. No cell service. Dueling banjos were playing in the background-Nah, JK on the banjos. Went to the community store in Alpine to use their landline.

I'm with Coot-better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
