A Little Help Here!

Has anyone ever done a full service on their bike, but changed oil brand. I just did and changed from Syn3 to Mobil 1 Full Syn. and am having some issues. First off, I ride a 2006 Street Glide. I am having trouble with a lot of back firing and if you ride behind me you will smell a lot of burnt oil fumes. Never had any problems before this service. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. My Thanks in advance.

Check and see if you put too much oil in the bike. Not sure about your bike but on my bike it must be hot when you check it.

Changing brands of oil has nothing to do with what you describe.

Correct. Unless you're putting oil in the wrong place, changing the oil is not going to change how your bike runs. Sounds like something else is amiss.

Amsoil will cause that! lol

Did you do the service or you had it done by someone else?

Changing oil brands won't cause what you just described. If you didn't notice these problems before the oil change, are you sure the service job was done properly?

Over full is only thing that i can think of

As stated changing oil brands will not cause what you describe. I also think it is over serviced. If you did the service did you check the oil when it was hot and sitting on the kick stand? Where is the oil on the dip stick?

Does that mean You (yourself) did the oil change.. or had it serviced by a wrench/shop.???

Thinking if it was you that did your oils for the first time,,, then it sounds like you fudged up somewhere or somehow...

we read in all the time about newbies making mistakes on oil changes,, because they don't know how... Worst one is removing the wrong drain plug which can really mess up the lower cases..
