Default Little leather magnetic tank case I threw together

I made this little leather case to carry an old iPhone I had just as a music player. Just eyeballed everything, no measuring. I did wet form the main body around the old phone while it was wrapped in saran wrap. The side that touches the tank is actually pig skin.

Doesn't even budge at 90mph.

It was playing All Along the Watchtower. A little Dylan via Hendrix.

I bought something very similar to this, and kept it in the exact same place on my bike. After doing a long trip, I took it off to wash the bike and now have a load of scratches where it sat. It had a nice soft underside and a rubber seal to help stop any dust getting underneath when in use, but it still got in there and scratched the paint job.

I've since binned it and use a handlebar mount from now on.

OP's looks pretty nice. I had a similar one that I bought and used for about 2 years. Never had an issue with scratches or blems on the black tank. Like Peg20, mine now sits in the garage closet except for long hauls where I know I'll have to pay tolls, etc. I like the cleaner look without it. These days I carry all of my **** in my vest and my piece in a paddle holster.

Looks like a good idea, but my luck I would get a few blems in the paint..I just use the 3 pouch on inside of my shield on the SG...Holds what little junk I carry, I have a blue tooth adapter I got from Best buy for my pod n cell to stream the steady music, my paddle holster has my small sunpass strapped to it on my hip and going thru the tolls the transponder picks it up every pass...

Well that bottom is pig skin and it is tough and soft at the same time. I put more magnets than I probably need in it and it doesn't even budge. That said, I only plan on using it on longer rides too. However, if it does scratch my tank, it will immediately get "retired".

I, too, would be concerned about scratching the clear-coat, regardless of "how smooth" the bottom of the case seems to feel.

My opinion only...
