Got schooled by an old timer.....and it was pretty cool
Me and a friend took a ride into the mountains over the weekend. My uncle has a place up there, so we stopped for the night. The nest morning while we were packing up our stuff and getting our bikes ready, my uncle's neighbor stopped over to say "hi". I know the guy rides, so I suggest that he go get his bike and ride out with us for an hour or so. He instantly says "sure" and goes and gets his bike.
He's a Vietnam vet so he has to be 70, or pretty close, that makes him 30 years my senior. His bike is a 1985 FXE....Evo powered with a 4 speed that he bought new in 85. I'm riding a '99 Dyna with an 88 TC and my buddy is on a '13 Softail with a 103. FWIW, both of us have been riding for 15+ years and are pretty confident in our abilities. From the moment we pulled out of my uncles country dirt road, the old timer was on the throttle and on it hard! Seriously riding that 4 speed like he stole it! We tried keeping up with him but he wasn't having it. If we got close on a straight, he smoked us in a curve. We chased him around for about an hour and a half twisting around some mountains and a reservoir but we couldn't stay with him! On one nasty bend, a curve that he later told me he "was gonna warn me about", he was waving to other riders!
When we got to the spot where we were gonna make our separate ways, we got off the bikes and shook hands....I told him next time I was up there beers were on me. I gotta give the old man some serious credit.....he took us to school!

New in 85 and probably not his first bike.
I bet he has over 50 years of riding under his butt.

Those are the best kind to ride with. FWIW my dad pushing 60 still rides the ***** out of an FXR based chassis with a Stroked EVO all built by him. I was told at a young age "old people don't get old from being stupid''.

I was on some road on a trip once somewhere around the Blue Ridge Parkway (if memory serves) that everyone told me to check out . . . some 300 pound guy in overalls on a Goldwing asked if he could ride with me at some fuel station . . geez that was the last thing I wanted so I decided I would just outrun him in the turns . . . I've been riding my whole life, even was a sponsored racer so I thought this will be a piece of cake. Man that guy was all over my *** . . I couldn't get away from him and I was hauling ***. As a matter of fact I was holding HIM back. I swear I looked back once and saw the guy drinking from a coffee mug with one hand while steering with the other arm a couple times (right in the middle of mean *** curves) AND at speed with sparks flying from his bike bottoming out! I got a good laugh out of it after I read about this guy online and how he was smoking a lot of people. My dumbass NY smart *** ways was 'had' *smile*
