When a Good Helmet Deal Isn't.

A post... that only contains a link... that leads to another link.. Sorry I gave up, my concentration span is way too short. :icon_wink:

The actual article:
And no, I didn't watch it. Just copied and pasted it in case somebody wanted to. |
It all depends on what you think your head is worth. A Chinese helmet that falls apart like that is no surprised when you consider the way they build motorcycles. They fall apart just as easy.

Here's another example of the differences in helmet quality from someone with a fun outback accent. He won't mention names though since he's afraid of pissing people off I guess.

It would be interesting to see how the company's that make helmets test their products to get some sort of certification. I'm not sure any of the methods show by the guy with the hammer , or the guy standing on it are actual realistic tests. The only thing missing was some guy shooting one with a riffle.,,

Not exactly scientific, but gets the point across.
I like Arai and Bell, personally. |
Someone mentioned this link in another thread and I was checking it out for an hour. The hammer test is actually fairly relevant.
http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/ Amazing how bad the commonly seen helmets do in the testing. Generally the side protection is the worst, which is consistent with the aussie standing on them. |
All I cared about was whether someone was going to make that youngin shut his whining mouth.
Nobody did. Made me happy at that point to see the hammer go thru the Styrofoam helmet. |
