Can I trust the dealer's "advice?"

I am considering either a Fat Bob or a Road King as my first Harley. I ride just a few days a week, just around town or under 100 miles. I am 47 and want to get an awesome bike! I deserve it, right?
I LOVE the look of the Fat Bob and I am a sports car guy, coming off of a Kawasaki standard bike. But I want a cruiser now. I have test driven a Road King and was impressed with the comfort of it.

Can I trust the dealers "advice?" They really steer you away from the Dyna. Do they just want me to spend an extra $5000, or is the RK really a superior bike that I "...will be happier on for a longer time?"

Thanks in advance for the advice.:icon_banana:

If you prefer a Buick over a Corvette go with the Road King.

Yes maybe drive them all then take the once you like for a second ride then make a decision after the third trip on the right one.

Wow! Perki are you joking! Is that really the difference here?
I LOVE my mustang GT and while Im not a top speed kinda guy, I love a good 0-60 thrill and fun twisties.
I would HATE a buick or Caddie over my Mustang!
Does that mean I need the Bob?

You said that you test rode the Road King, did you do the same with the Fat Bob? If not, I think you will find your answer when you try both. :)

Joking a little bit, but you said you would not ride much and mostly under 100 miles. And if that is the case the extra $5,000 is just more commission for the salesman and profit for the dealer. Ride them both then decide what makes YOU happy.

Road King bigger bike = more comfortable ride + bigger profit margin for dealer Bigger commission for salesman than a Fat Bob sale.
Dyna smaller lighter bike = more nimble & quicker in the twisty s = Lower profit margin for dealer.
You have to decide with what type of riding your going to do most.
Road King for long distance-all day comfort or Fat Bob for ripping around for a couple hours.
Hope that helps.

This. Go there and test ride or if you can, rent them and decide for yourself. It's going to be your bike and you'll be riding it.

It's an individualist thing, what is best for one does not mean it's the best for you. YOU have to make the decision. The only way you can do that is to ride each of the ones you like based on the appearance you like, then on which one feels better you after you have ridden them.
