Default Cam Plate Upgrade

So my 2000 FLHT just crossed 48K miles and I figured it is time to have the cam chain tensioners changed out. The local indy, who comes highly recomended, quoted me $1048 for the Screamin Eagle cam plate, oil pump, hydrolic tensioner upgrade. I plan on keeping the bike so I figure on doing the upgrade instead of just replacing the spring tensioners. My question to you is 'do you consider that a reasonable price'
Thanks in advance.

Does that include different cams and adjustable push rods? That kit is about $450 or so at the dealer. Or is that his price with stock cams installing with stock push rods? Ensure he swaps out the inner and outer cam bearings and i would do new lifters at that mileage as well while it is apart.

We need specifics to know if it is a good price or not.

Keep in mind the upgrade is simply smoke since you will still have your inner link chain. The roller chain is the upgrade. Not the silly smoke of the hydraulic tensioners. When the roller chain grooves in, it rolls. Should easily last 100K. Since you are paying to have someone tear it down, I agree with replace tensioners but if it were me, all I would do is the tensioners and cam bearing if they looked bad. The oil pump should be inspected but that is easy to do.

This is with the stock cams. New inner and outer bearings. Not sure on the pushrods or the lifters. Guess I need more info.

go gear drive and never worry about it again. the new SE set-up is still just a temp set-up, gear drives are forever.

Mine was a little under $1200. parts and labor. Harley Screaming Eagle upgrade kit, which is new oil pump Bearings and plate. I got the upgraded adjustable pushrods. I did it about a month ago. My 2005 Electraglide had 45000 miles on it. The tensioners were about 1/3 rd worn. Not terrible and probably could have gone some more miles, but it needed done, and I feel better now.

That price is about what I got quoted last year too. That was with adjustable pushrods.

Basically have to have new pushrods, unless they're going to open up the rocker box's.
