flashers won't quit!

i just put my 2013 rg custom back together after having a bunch of stuff powder coated. i took the turn signals apart and did them and they're back on the bike. they work, but when i turn on the emergency flashers when the bike is running, and then turn the bike off w the switch at the triple tree they stay on. the bikes off and turned off but they keep flashing.

anyone?

If you really mean the "emergency flashers" wouldn't you want them to keep flashing when the bikes 'off'? Isn't that the purpose? Have you tried turning them off by disarming the security system, turning the ignition key on, and then pressing the left and right turn signals at the same time?

At least that is the method described in a 2005 Sportster owners manual.

i have to disconnect the battery to shut them off.

Doesn't the manual for year/model of your scooter show how to shut them off? The Sportster manual, that has those instructions for the Sportster, also indicates that the emergency flashers will cancel after 2 hours.

Thanks. I know how to turn them on & off. There's something that's not working right though.

What you are experiencing is how the 4-way flasher mode is intended to work. There is nothing wrong with your setup.

Hazard Warning 4-Way Flasher Instructions:
1. With the ignition key ON and the security system disarmed (If Equipped), press the left and right turn signal switches at the same time.
2. Turn the ignition key OFF and arm the security system if present or desired. The 4-Way flashers will continue for two hours.
3. To cancel the 4-way flashing, disarm the security system if necessary, turn the ignition key ON and press the left and right turn signal switches at the same time.

This system allows a stranded vehicle to be left in the 4-way flashing mode and secured until help is found.

done. not sure what the deal was with it. i changed the bulbs in the front turn signals. hooked up the battery and its all good. electrical problems suck. I've got my fingers crossed that it won't happen again.

thanks all for chiming in.
