Default S&S teardrop air cleaner for 08 and up touring with electronic throttle

So I was installing my new air cleaner on Sunday, an S&S teardrop air cleaner for 08 and up touring model with electronic throttle control, part number 106-2091. Well, the instructions from S&S did not have torque specs for the breather bolts or the bolts for the backplate to the adaptor plate. Has anyone ever installed this kit before? Also, yes, I have tried to contact S&S.....multiple times......through multiple avenues.....Even had one of the most bizarre conversations with a tech at S&S.

i thought about buying one of these, but it looks to have a lot of parts to it just for an air cleaner. plus i would vent to the air. i've never had a problem when calling S&S .

yeah well, when I called and asked the guy what the torque specs were, he told me I shouldn't be using a torque wrench, so at that point I asked "oh, OK, so there are no torque specs?" at that point he said loudly in the phone "I didn't say that, are you planning on using a torque wrench?" I responded "well, yeah i was going to, if I need to" this went on round and round, and then he didn't want to give me any info because he didn't know if I knew how to "wrench on my bike" and I honestly thought maybe he was high or something. Anyway, I've tried calling again, emailing, messaging through the forum here, I even tried emailing J&P to see if they had any info. Have not received a call, email, or message back yet.

The instructions on the S&S website for installing your air filter clearly quote torque settings, so perhaps you should refer to them.

Yup, they sure do, in step 3 for the three 1/2" 1/4-20 screws that hold the adaptor plate to the throttle body. But those aren't the breather bolts

I don't think you're looking at the instructions for part number 106-2091. I don't even have a step 9 in my instructions

What are you missing? Nothing! You're right, I was looking at instructions for a similar but slightly different version. What do you need to know? The pics show using a simple allen key, plus blue Loctite. Frankly that looks like enough info to me. If you really want a torque number, I suggest you use the one in step 3 on page 3.

I like those air filters so much I bought mine with an engine and carb attached. Unfortunately those fixings on my bike are quite diffferent, so I can't read across.

Unfortunately, the allen key with blue loctite is for the decorative covers and I wouldn't worry about torque specs for those, however the actual breather bolts themselves are a 7/8 ratchet and in my opinion a little more important since it is part of the functionality of the air cleaner. In the process of trying to find info, I watched a video that J&P did installing this exact kit. They were quick to mention that its important to torque all these bolts down to exact specs, but didn't give them on the video. I guess at the end of the day after spending more than 250 bucks on an air cleaner I expect clear and COMPLETE directions, and to not get ignored or treated badly by the company that makes the kit in the first place!
