Default Hammock Seat Warning

From day one I am loving my 2017 Ultra Limited Low. Only issue I had was the OEM seat. Needed something more comfortable for long rides, so replaced it with the Hammock. I'm a happy camper now, but my wife is not! She found the OEM seat much more comfortable and I figured out why. So be warned if you're thinking of going with the Hammock! Here's is what they don't tell you and, like me, you might overlook about this seat ....... from the slot/opening for the rider backrest to the end of the seat the Hammock is almost 2" shorter than the OEM seat. This causes my wife's tailbone to come down directly on the very end of the seat. Nothing I can do about it now. Not going to spend a bunch of bucks on another seat, so now every time she rides we need to use a pillow between her back and the tour-pak backrest to move her forward.

I just had a 16 rgu rental and put my hammock on it for the week I had it. I didn't notice what you're saying. I remember it was a pita to put on because of how far under the tour pack the tab was. And the wife hated the tour pack pad. Not the seat. I'd move the tour pack forward whatever the distance of the gap is.

You might give Mean City Cycles a call, they can probably rework that seat to exactly what you want...

Mean City does excellent work. Had them rework a Mustang, adding new foam and a tailbone channel and the fit is excellent! Cannot recommend them highly enough. Did the drive-in service and they were helpful, fast, and meticulous.

I bought a Hammock seat, rode home on it and took it off Immediately. Not comfortable to me of wife. It also rubbed the crap out of the paint on my tank.

They gave me a full refund against a Mustang Touring seat...We are riding on air now...........

Almost 40,000 on ours, girlfriend has no issue with the Hammock. She called the stock seat 'horrible' and the CVO seat little better. I am not sure I understand your issue unless the 2017 Hammock is different than the pre-16 seats. Perhaps it would clarify your wife's pain if you posted the stock number of the seat that gave her issues. Was yours the post 2014 p/n 52000176 or did you use an older hammock on your bike?

Absolutely love my Hammock, but the passenger section of the Ultra seat is more comfy. Bought a used Ultra seat here on HDF, and just swap seats for a two up ride. Easy.

Not everyone likes the same seat. I tried a hammock seat 200 miles on a 14 limited. Did not like it at all . Sent my original seat to ASweet seat . It was great . I now have a trike and the stock seat so far has been good.

** Old thread revival**

I called Mean City Cycle to rework my hammock. He told me it can't be reworked. It is not like a normal seat.
