it runs around 2400 at 58 to 60 mph and 2900 at 63 to 65 mph,, I have not paid attention at 70, but guess it is around 3000 part of the problem is that the bike has a Woods TW-7h cam and it is noisy as hell and with the engine RPM's up and the valves clanking, it is almost annoying.

Ear plugs work great, but I don't want to wear them all the time.

Makes me wonder about mine. I got a 103 6 speed and at about 70 mph im running about 2700ish. I haven't rode any other bikes so I cant really say for sure or not if that's where it should be or not. seems loud and high rpm for rolling 70 mph to me

Best tuning aid known to mankind! I wear 'em on all but the shortest trips.

I've been riding bikes for 50 years - they have always been noisy! Actually that isn't true - riding bikes has always been noisy. There are many sources of noise, with the engine being only one. There was an article in a leading US bike magazine, long before the internet was invented, about noise while riding and it was pretty shocking stuff!

It should be given to every new motorcyclist. Unfortunately not enough emphasis is made these days about the damage to our hearing we risk while riding, even though we should be even more aware of such things. Noise can easily reach 115dB and our employers are legally obliged to protect us from those levels in the workplace.

Wear ear plugs - you owe it to your ears, especially when you get older.

There is a great variety of styles of plugs available, with some dealers offering mixed packs to try out, there is a pair for you out there somewhere! I've been wearing them since the 1970s, so it can be done. The discomfort of deafness or tinnitus later in life is worth a little effort now.
