Default Old Stainless To Polished Like Chrome - Toothpaste!

I needed two odd size button head bolts recently and couldn't easily locate a set. I had a set that were the right size but were old stainless steel with a satin/matt finish to the head.

A dremel, adult toothpaste, children's toothpaste and then Meguiars NXT 2.0 works a treat to achieve the mirror finish you're looking for and stainless should last longer, too! Many of the old timers here will probably already know this but for those who don't I thought I'd pass it on.

It works well. 20 mins work for the 2. I could have taken it further but I just wanted to the bolts to match the shine of the dock kit which they now do and it all looks stock. Being metric over here it's a tad harder to find UNC bolts in the right length and impossible to find mirror finish stainless or chrome so this was a good solution and cheap for a change!

I happen to have a polisher set up that we bought when my father and were restoring antique bikes. I do the same thing a lot. I'll buy stainless and polish it. Works great and only takes a few minutes.
