Vented or non-vented gas cap

Vented or non-vented gas cap
I'm wanting to put a different gas cap cap on '07 Sportster and the gas cap that I really like comes in non-vented only. Does it matter if the cap is vented or non-vented for a 2007 fuel injected Sportster gas tank? I've heard some people say that it has to be vented and I've heard others say that it doesn't matter because the tank is vented.

Doesn't matter. Both tanks are vented. Below is a 2006 model, Item 9 is the overflow/vent hose that attaches to the tank. Without it, the bike won't run for long, fuel injected or carbed.
On this 2007 it's Item number 7.

If you leave the vapor valve (One-way valve) in place (#16 or #14), then you have to have a vented cap
