Where Can I Get.....
 

Does anyone know of a place I can get Harley lettering/decals in a custom color? I have a Stage 1 HD air cleaner (football style) that I powder coated gloss black. I currently have the black trim ring with the Screamin' Eagle and Harley Davidson lettering that comes orange in the OEM form. I love the look, but its the only thing orange on the bike.

I'd like to get the letters in blue - something close to Big Blue Pearl and redo the lettering on the trim ring. I attached a pic of the way it currently looks.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...eca4036cd9.png
I've looked all over the internet with no luck. if anyone has any ideas or can point me to someone I'd appreciate it.

If you get over near Longwood look me up. We have a sign shop here and many different stock colors of vinyl we can cut the letters in. We would need to have the air cleaner here to get the exact size. A local sign company should be able to help. It looks like you have a signs now over by you maybe take a ride there and ask them.

You could purchase another ring and try painting with blue stained glass paint. The black should stay black and the orange and light areas will blue. Have never done but have used the paints before and they hold up well. Light coats build up to level of tint wanted

i vote for the print shop. i restore old guitars and often get a print shop make a head stock decal.
this is my process:
1. find a picture on the net or take one of the head stock if usable
2. run it through a photo editor to scale it to size
3. have print shop make the decal in what color i need
4. if the head stock was silk screened as most are, i have a reverse image made and this becomes my mask and then i spray paint, if careful, it is reusable.
the shop my be able to scan it also.

Thanks for all the responses. I really appreciate the input. I ordered another ring today and as soon as it comes in I'm going to hit a couple of sign shops and see what they say. I may also look into painting over the orange on the ring, or having a pinstriper do it and then clear coat it. Will post some pics when it's done.

So to update, I took the trim ring to two different print/graphics shops. Both told me they couldn't do anything at all with the lettering or the Screamin Eagle logo as it was clearly trademarked on the graphic.

So my fall back idea of findng a painter to do it went into play. I found a good one and sent him pics of my trim ring and my idea for it. He responded back and told me the best way to go wild be to get a print shop, etc. Either get full decals or have the shop make a stencil as that is what he needs to paint it.

He gave me a contact for a shop he uses, so hopefully they will work with the graphic.

Thanks again to all who offered help. I finally found a local printer who knew where to send me. The print shop I went to initially said they could do the decals, but after looking at the trim ring they determined there were too many curves in the decal surface and their product would wrinkle. They suggested a graphics shop near me in Daytona that does vehicle wraps. The shop is Hawkeye Bros. on Fentress Bv.

I went there and it was a simple job for them. I brought them the trim ring and told them the oem paint color I wanted to match and four days later I had a trim ring with the decal designed and installed on the ring for $42. I can't say enough about the service and product I ended up with.

As for the wrap the guy I worked with said they are extremely durable and will last the life of the bike. These guys do wraps for cars that race at Daytona so I trust what they are saying.
