Default I don't need a trailer, I need a sled

one of those sled things you use to winch a bike into the back of an F-150

I can r/t to southern california in 6 days with a couple stops and visits along the way. I want to trade in my Street Glide for a Road King out there. But I'm not interested in riding out there or trailering the bike.

if only I could safely get the bikes into the back of the truck it would be a done deal. I looked at Northern tool today for some options, and I think I could cobble something together. A winch, a sled of sorts, some ramps, etc.

Too bad you can't rent one of the fancy sleds with the winch. No way am I forking out the kind of money they want for a one-time use.

I could rent a U-Haul but all they have with ramps is open trailers which I'm not keen on but might have to resort to. I'm going to check around, I might be able to borrow one but if I could get the bike in the truck, I would probably take off Thursday morning for CA with the bike in the back

Red face

Think calm thoughts! Take the easy and economical route - I can't imagine the hazard of hauling a sled up a ramp, especially single-handed. A U-haul would be a wise choice!

I have a Black Widow ramp from Discount Ramps, best $350 I ever spent for motorcycle transportation, Just ride the bike right into the back of the truck. You will wonder how you lived without it.
