Ive never had forward tipping issues as of yet. I will say the only real problem Ive seen is that it can be slippery as hell. I changed the front wheel chock, added a few U bolts here and there and bought a center jack for under the frame, so I can lift the rear wheel.
Other than that I'm all good.

I have thought about scrubbing the deck and ramp with a Scotch-brite pad, then wiping down with denatured alcohol to get as much residue and grease off as possible, and then using 3-4 coats of truck bed liner, on mine. I have had decent luck with the type that you apply yourself (with a roller), fairly durable and non-slip on metal and wood. I considered the non-slip tape that people use on skateboards / surfboards, but afraid that the diamond plate texture on the table, would prevent it from sticking very well.
Well I broke down and got the Harbor Freight lift. Have not had a chance to try it out yet but I feel a lot better about the purchase after hearing the success stories here. I like the truck liner idea, may have to give that a try.

Go the auto store, buy a bottle of hydraulic jack oil, top off the cylinder reservoir, and bleed/stroke the valve before your first use. Most of the hydraulic equipment from China is shipped with just a little bit of oil - it'll quit working after the first lift or two without filling.
They're a decent lift for the dough. Go to the HF website and you can sign up for coupons and deals. I get them weekly and once in a while you'll get some outstanding deals if you keep on the BOLO.
