Question Jiffy Stand versus Kick Stand

I searched but did not see this question answered.

Harley Davidson calls it a "Jiffy Stand". But we all know of it as a "Kick Stand".

Why does Harley call it a Jiffy Stand?

The only thing I can think of is because someone has the rights to the terminology to Kick Stand.

It is like saying Kleenex versus tissue. Or Jacuzzi versus hot tub.

The above is only my conjecture. Does anyone really know the answer?

Thanks mate but nothing there was definitive. Only conjecture and some good jokes. I think they were jokes.

I will see if I can drop a line to HD themselves. If/when I get a response from the source itself I will come back here and share it with everyone.

I'm all goose-bumpy waiting for the answer. LOL I'm coming down there and speaking with your wife about leaving you home alone. I think your actions are going to escalate into something that will be unspeakable. HAHAHA GO BUZZCAP7, GO !!!

well it will park you in a jiffy!!!
mr. rhino makes a point.
the old stands really did not lock and the machine could be rolled forward and fall over. my 74 ch is like this.
i once dropped the machine because of that issue.
so it would fix you up in a jiffy!!!
i too would be surprised at any response from hd, but please let us know, the suspense is killing me!!!

Jiffy stand locks into place as the bike sinks down. Kick stands do not lock and can be dislodged by pushing the bike forward. Jiffy stand is made so that a passenger and/or rider can get on the bike safely and will be stable with the added weight. Kick stands are iffy at this task.
