Default Cleaning spoke wheels..especially rear

Hey all, What is the best way to clean chrome spoke wheels? Recently bought a bike and looks like the rear wheel has never been done. I'm not afraid of using elbow grease..but would like to learn some tips before I get started. Can I use a wire brush on the really tough parts?

Information is important.
For example some older bikes had Chrome rims but spokes were some kind of cadmium plating.
Removal of that coating would not be good.
A wire brush on chrome is rarely a good idea.

I used Mr. clean in a spray bottle or 409 spray entire area, I then went in with a soft bottle brush, tooth brush , rag back and forth then hose or pressure wash off. then I put a spray on wax. keep it off the disc and pads. After that I bought a new bike with spokeless wheels!

S100 and a water hose, then dry with a leaf blower. My spoked wheels only need deep cleaning and polishing twice a year or so this way.

Find someone who details bikes and let them do it.
