Question How to tell whether it's 88CI or 96CI ?

Several years ago, I bought a 2003 Fatboy and the seller said he had inherited the bike from his brother when he passed on. He said his brother told him he had upgraded the engine from the stock 88ci to 96ci. The seller said there wasn't any maintenance records that came with the bike, so he couldn't prove this upgrade had actually been done. I'm in the process of selling the bike, and was wondering how I could verify one way or the other ? Other than doing lube work and a few other things, I'm not much of a wench, so looking for some input.

First off, it's more than likely a 95" big bore kit since a 96" would have meant replacing the crankshaft. Is there an aftermarket tuner on the bike? If not, then it probably had a download from HD and your dealer can check to see which flash was done.

Thanks for the reply. Now that you mention it, the seller said it was 95ci not 96. Senior memory cells in action Since I'm not much of a wench, I wouldn't know where to look for an after market tuner. I'll have to take it to the local Harley dealer to get it checked out, then I'll know for sure what size engine the bike has.

If the work was done by a dealer, any dealer should be able to run the VIN and see what was done.

Race a stage 1 96” bike.

If the 03 can smoke a 2007-2010 96er it’s a 95”.

Makes perfect sense to me, if you beat him, it's proof you have less displacement. Racing on public roads is always great advice too
