Default Georgia Boots with flat soles

I recently bought a pair of Georgia Mach Toe boots. I was on a out of town ride and the boots that I left with got filled with water during a torrential downpour. I bought the new boots, laced them up, hopped back on my bike and started riding. Within the first minute I realized that I have a huge problem, the flat souls of the boots won't grip my pegs. No matter how I position my feet on the pegs they just keep walking off as I'm riding.
I notice alot of riders wear the same boots that I bought so I'm wondering if anyone else has ran into the same problem.

I have two options. I can either buy new pegs or alter the souls of the boots. The reason why they slip off is because they have no ledge on the soul like most other boots. I have been thinking of ways to create a ledge. One thought is to heat up a pipe until it's red hot and then step on the pipe to burn the shape of the pipe in to the soul. My other thought is to get a Porta band sander with 2" band and sand a ledge. I figure I will try to alter the boots first before I buy a set of bear trap style pegs.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Thanks

The boots

Slick pegs with no knerling or rubber inserts are probably your main problem. Before I melted or cut my boots in the area where the soles are most like to crack and split I think I get some better pegs.

they look like a two piece sole,

if you really like the boot, take them to a shoe repair shop and put some oil resistant Vibram soles on them with a low heel. Better sole and it will give you a "notch" for the boot on the peg

Pick up a new set of boots. Just make sure that they have at least a one inch high heel.

Get some black rubber bands and put them on the pegs, boots shouldn't slide on the rubber bands.

That's a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion. I have a old bike inner tube in my garage. I bet I could slide a piece over each peg and that will provide more grip to keep boot locked into place. My left boot is fine because the clutch area of the primary cover keeps my left foot from slipping off. It's only the right side that keeps walking off.

Agreed! They look great boots for any other use, so your money isn't wasted. Just go and get something more suitable - or some foot-boards!

+1, The boots in the pic have replaceable soles (goodyear welt construction), get them re-soled.
