Default 12 or 14 inch bars?

2013 Road Glide with standard bars, wanting to put 14 inch on but saw it was more difficult due to extending wires. Do you have to extend wires for 12 inch? Any info would be helpful and and advice taken. Thanks

The improvement in comfort from having the right bars is worth the additional step of wire extensions, whether you do it yourself or you pay someone.

That said, on paper, 14" bars were perfect for me. In reality, another two inches would have been better. Go to a dealership and sit on a few used bikes. Apes are common enough that you should be able to find one with a comfortable position. Take your measurements based on that riding position, then transpose it to your bike's dimensions.

I went with 14s on my ultra and honestly wish i would have went with 16s. Comfort and control is significantly better either way. I would recommend 14s if that's as high as you want to go

These 14” apes are perfect for my height, but I could go even higher to 16” or even 18”. Taller bars would look cooler but I’d definitely give up long-range comfort.

I went from 20" apes on my last Street Glide to 14" on my current Street Glide and I regret it, oh well live and learn. 18" or 20" bars coming soon lol
