Default Which pressure gauge to believe?

Each 3 months I usually check tyre pressure. This time I have both a standalone gauge and a new pump with its gauge.
There are "Alien 4x4" gauge and foot-operated "Michelin" pump.

Front wheel:
- Alien reads 24 PSI.
- Michelin reads 34 PSI.

Rear wheel:
- Alien reads 29 PSI.
- Michelin reads 40 PSI.

I pumped several times in each wheel to rise pressure up to spec (36 and 42 PSI) according to Michelin's reading.

Which one of these gauges would you trust?

Neither, get a pencil gauge they are cheap enough. Milton imo is the best out there and compare results.

both chinesium
i would test both against a known to be good unit.
usually, the bordelon tube type have error both at the low and high ends. when testing for government compliance we chose a gauge that will read the expected pressure in middle scale. these gauges are also mirrored to remove parallax error.
the newer gauges are digital and use strain elements for measurements, it took awhile but the government finally accepted them. even so, all gauges were tested by third party and certified. also, many newer units can keep history, we even had units to test wells as data loggers.
so find a digital one, no mechanical parts.

Pump gauges are notoriously inaccurate.

Yep ... Milton or Schrader make quality gauges ... Pencil type is more than adequate to establish a base ... "reading" the tire will help determine where you want your pressure to be

yep, I have used a pencil gauge for many many years and it works good enough. I also learned how to read tire wear and it has helped me get more out of a set of tires, both on my cars and bikes, than just reading pressure alone.

Most modern vehicles are equipped with TPMS, which are fairly accurate. Compare your readings to one if available.

Hmm, one guy pointed me that Alien shows 24 PSI while Michelin shows 2,4 bar (by blue scale). It can be wrong scale, multiplied by 10 and marked with PSI
