Well the easy part is done. That is installing the gauges. Now comes the hard part, configuring the gauges for my bike. These even came with an Oil Temperature Sensor. But, it gets installed in the oil drain hole. I have 14,000+ miles so looks like an early oil change. If you don't use the oil temp sensor, the gauge will show engine temp.
Question: What's more important to you, Oil Temp or Engine Temp or it doesn't matter?
Most people will freak out learning the temps that the motor routinely runs at.
this! I had a fairly built jet boat that I had planned on putting a blower on so I ordered a boost gauge, blower didn't happen so I swapped the boost with oil temp, I spent that weekend freaking out over oil temps. I put in a clock when I got home.
The logo for the Union that I retired from is a gauge, lol. Been reading them for years and actually fond of having the knowledge that they give me. Very helpful sometimes! That being said, I wanted BOTH, oil and engine temps, so I went with Dakota Digitals. Not to mention that I had an issue with some Koso Gauges and their customer service in Canada sucked ***.
I voted oil temp.
The reason is that I typically only see specifications for oil temperatures.
With oil temperature, one knows when the engine is warmed enough to redline.
Ditto would know when overheated in traffic.
I don't recall ever seeing a spec for engine temp.
Plus, the engine temperature may vary from front to rear, side to side, and top to bottom... depending on the sensor location.
