Default House of Harley Davidson - sent me a used item

Ordered a large HD Circulator pad for one of my larger seats. The item that arrived was used.

Package was opened, packaging itself looked like it had been dug out of the trash.

Avoid.

Did you bother to make contact with them for an explanation ? Maybe there was a legitimate reason, some one goofed, it happens. Give them a call and give them a chance to make it right.

Of course I did, but it was clearly 'used', why any employee would put something like that in a box and ship it to a customer....to me it wasn't by mistake, it was trying to unload something. Unclear how anyone could not 'see' it was used unless they were literally blind.

have never had that issue w/ Boardtracker (same region)...and I've ordered from there for YEARS. Literally $100's if not $1000s of dollars worth of parts/merchandise etc.
Would have ordered it there but they didnt have in stock and I wanted to try it on last weekends run.

Did House of Harley make it right? Plenty of ways it could have been an honest mistake.

Honestly, I can't think of one believable honest mistake.

After inspecting the item "I" emailed and stated if they wanted to knock 10-20% off the cost and refund me that I'd keep it. That went un-responded to.

All they did was try to solicit more business by offering 5% off a future purchase and a free t-shirt. I dunno. Kinda an awkward experience.

Is there a reason why you and poster above seem to be defending this dealership?

No motivation to lie about what occurred. I post about good and bad experiences (see my Riders Domain thread).

I wonder if it was an opened but unused item?
That doesnt excuse what they did-when you pay for something new, you expect it to be in its original packaging. If its not, you kind of expect to be told that.

Nope, I don't have a dog in this fight. Never done business with them. I just wondered if they tried to make it right or if you gave them the opportunity to do so.. Sounds like they didn't, not good business.

Nope, no dog in this fight either. Just trying to get more info on what happened, or didn't, and still not sure what the whole story is and how it got resolved.

Ever work with a disgruntled employee?
Boss could have been getting ready to fire that shippers azz and your order was the last one the guy was going ship before getting the boot.
A call to the dealer would have or might have solved the problem.
And no dog in this fight either.
