Trailers
About 10 years ago My wife and myself had a trip planned and I decided I needed a trailer . I had to come up with a idea and the Bushtek were to expensive. I was thinking of using a large whiskey barrel but it was just to heavy. One afternoon I saw a car roof top carrier and it reminded me of the Star Trek Shuttle "Galileo". I thought that could work and look pretty neat too. Bought a old piece of crap small trailer frame, cut a piece of ply , got new tires and wheels and did some wiring. Mounted some "PVC" pipe on the side for engine pods and put some flashing lights inside. Had some black vinyl stickers cut and some numbers and it all went together. Played with the tire pressure and the springs and finally got it tracking straight ,true and smooth. Had about 400 in it.

Did those that purchased/licensed the HF tag-along trailer receive a free set of lights in the mail? Seems the original lights installed were not up to legal-use. Got a post card in the mail with model # of my trailer. Maybe it was just an Idaho thing. Already had LED lights installed, so didn't need the new set of lights sent. Gave to the friend that did my original wiring.

no lights but I did just receive a recall notice for the HF Trailer (8" or 12") wheels/tires I purchased for install back in '03. I was honestly impressed that they still had my info to follow-up. Says to just dismount and return for improved set swap, that meet DOT standards. Can't help but wonder if the orange paint will be a deal breaker or not.
God knows I got my use out of the first set and the spare is likely on the verge of sidewall crack anyway, just from exposure. Hard to beat fresh treads for free.

Took my first road trip with the trailer, ran about 600 miles round trip. I think I may need to remove a leaf spring as it did bounce some on rough roads. Also need to find out the best tire pressure to run. I see mixed reviews, but the most common suggestion is to run at the max air pressure listed on the tire, which is 60 PSI. Also the owners manual suggests 60 as well. May be why I bounced too.
The trailer tracked well, and doesn’t affect the ride at all, I forgot it was there.
