Bought a trailer, Got some ?'s
I bought this trailer to pull behind my '96 Heritage and have a few questions.
1. The trailer appears to be a harbor freight trailer with 8in wheels, would it be possible to swap these out for 12in wheels and if so what would the benefits be?
2. The tongue length from the front of the trailer to the front of the hitch is 34 1/2 inches. I want to put a cooler tray on there that will measure approximately 21in wide by 18in deep, is that to short? What tongue length would be ideal?
3. The trailer is wired with a flat 5wire plug and I understand that is what's needed as the plug coming from the bike, any idea where I can obtain one of those?
The trailer seems to be well put together with a swivel hitch and good lighting, good tires with a spare, I may be overthinking the tire size thing since the p/o said they pulled it from TN to AZ and back behind a ford explorer with no problems. Also mentioned that his father-in-law pulled it behind a Goldwing all the time with no problems.
My hitch is made by US Hitch and rated at 50pounds tongue & 2000pound trailer weight so I think I will have no problem there as I have no plans whatsoever to test those limits.
Going to take my time and have some powder coating and paint work done over the winter and won't attempt to pull the trailer until next spring so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

1) Going to a 12" tire/wheel may give longer tire life and will raise the trailer approx. 2".
as long as there is clearance.Choice of tires may be better.
I have 10" tires on my trailer and were hard to find.Bought them from a online scooter store.
Check the tires for a date code.I would replace if they are dated even if the look good.
2)Generally speaking the tongue should be 1 1/2 times the axle length.
3)You should buy a wire isolator that hooks up to the stock wiring.
There are a few places that sell specific isolators for different model bikes. The plugs can vary depending on how the trailer is wired.
I bought my isolator from Open Road Outfitters.
4)Good idea to check the wheel bearings.

I towed this 19 Cube trailer with 8" wheels from DC to AZ with no issues.
Traded the trike in 2012.
I now pull it with my 2012 Ultra Limited.
Using an isolated light harness, and a swivel hitch from www.openroadoutfitters.com

After doing more reading the tongue should be "at least" one and half times.
So technically you could extend the tongue a little depending on how yours is set up.
www.motocampers.com has lots of info.
