Default Pulling a trailer behind a touring bike or a trike question

Bought the trailer for my trip out west next year, will be pulling with my Road Glide. My buddy has a Tri Glide and found a used trailer for a great price, and is most likely buying it.

He asked me how the much a strong cross wind will affect the riding experience. He has done some trips out west, and said the cross winds can get up to 30 mph. Just wondering how this will be with a trailer behind us.

Any need to worry with either rig?

I've found it had more effect on me when I had luggage strapped on the tourpak as compared to pulling a trailer. Really don't notice much cross wind effect with the trailer.

Same here. Been all over the West pulling a trailer and I can say hooter57 nailed it!

Load it up ( properly ) and get to going ... I've pulled a Bushtec all day long, on north to south and east to west trips, with no ill effects what so ever.

Nice thing about a trailer is you just lift the lid, throw in your bags, and go. Stop for lunch, throw the helmets and jackets in, and go eat. Like it's been said, you tend to forget it's behind you.

I'm running a2002 Flhtc with Lehman conversion. I have a removable plate that attaches to my hitch. I ride 2 up so the woman and I just strap a drybag to the plate with our clothes. Also you can always mail clothes to your destination if it's a hotel and mail dirty clothes home

Like others have said when at speed, you hardly know it's back there! Now, acceleration is slower and watch the braking/slowing down thing. You have to anticipate lights/stops. When I'm riding down route 17 headed for FL I look way ahead. When I see a light change I start coasting and try to time it so I don't have to use my brakes too hard.

Balance your load properly, stay within load capacity, adjust braking distance, remember your extra length at the gas pump [another story for another time]. Go enjoy the sights and sounds!<br/>
