I have a Bushtec set up on my FLHTCU ... $700.00 for a hitch seems to be a bit pricey ... Have you searched for a used one?

I've hauled back and forth local and to and from Sturgis many times with my 2000 FLSTC. It's been modified with hardbags and a new front end now... but still pulls a loaded down trailer, up and over the passes and even through a few hard (standing water on the highway) rain/hail storms... like a breeze. I've heard others complain some here on the forum but I think that may be the difference between a 5 and 6 speed.
I prefer a 2 wheel'd trailer though. I can un-hitch it, set it on my homemade kickstand and get stuff in/out of it as needed without any hassle. can a single wheel do the same? not being a smart-***, I'm genuinely curious.
I love having mine but I have had to replace the enclosed, plastic car-top hauling clam-shell, once over the last decade due to it cracking under the weight of frozen snow in the off season. Not a big deal, since mines more built than bought.
Here's an older pic on my trip from Fargo to Spokane, off Hwy 200S... before I wrecked and replaced the front forks and fender.

Here's another pic, more relevant to traveling over the big hills...

another edit: sorry for the links. this forum works like *** with my free picture host.
