Default Lost the vision in my left eye.

Good afternoon, I posted this in the Tri-Glide section and a member suggested the post also go here.

Recently lost the vision in my left eye and am legally blind in that eye. My two-wheeled days may be over and researching trikes. I would like to convert my 09 Ultra Classic and prefer to install the kit myself.

Do you have suggestions on kit manufactures that allow the user to install?

Thanks,

David

David,

Sorry to hear this.

I am looking to the (hopefully distant) future as well and hear good things about the Frankenstein kits. Seems like it could be a 1-day job, doing it yourself, depending on the bike and your experience level, tools, etc.

I have no firsthand knowledge. Just what I've read here and on their website.

Good luck.

TinCupChalice recently carried out a Frankenstein Conversion on his bike and NCBANDIT also has one that as of May had covered 8,000 miles and his enjoyment was the same as day one. Both are great looking machines. Touch base with either of them and I am sure they will give you any advice you may need?

Sorry to hear about your vision. You will love the quality, customer service, and DIY ability of the Frankenstein kit.

We just ordered another for my wife's new to her 2012 deluxe.

Dont think the fun days are over. I prefer these in corners over 2 wheels. The worry of gravel, sand, grease, etc., is gone and they corner like they're on a rail, so you can really push it if you want.

I have zero desire to ride 2 wheels anymore. Good luck.

Default I do not know you

Let me put in a few pennies of thought. About 8 years ago I had a cataract surgery. It took about a month or two for paper work at the VA. I was driving my car as my eye site got contentiously worse. One day I slowly changed lanes and a car was using his horn as I did just not see him. Moral is: think very carefully what you are going to do in your next page of your life. I have no suggestions but I would rethink your next option. Good luck in your endeavors.

NCBANDIT, thanks for the reply. Never took into consideration the gravel on 3-wheels. Good point and plus. I am actually starting to get excited about the build, one of my favorite parts. I am in the process of restoring an Ironhead Sportster and love the wrenching.

The cataract surgery was the first followed by a partial detachment of the retina and then two additional full attachments. Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.
