Changing the Rims

Changing the Rims
Hello from Mumbai, India. I am new to this forum. In fact, I came here to ask this question - What all do I need to know when putting on rims from a Superlow onto my Street 750?
Here is what I know / have been told:
For the rear: Rim needs to be trimmed by some 2mm, use the rear compensator bowl from a Nightrod along with the rubber insert and the rim fits the Street 750 just fine.
On the front: I'm being asked to change the triple trees to accommodate a wider rim. This means a lot of work, expense and the fact that my ignition / handle lock can't go back on the bike. I am not in favour of doing any of this.
Any help is welcome
